Roots are the foundation of any successful planting, just as they are for a successful company.  At Wallitsch Nursery & Landscaping, our roots run deep and strong.

In 1946, Herman Wallitsch Sr., a Romanian Immigrant, came to Kentucky from Rhode Island where he was an estate gardener in Massachusetts.  While stationed at Fort Knox during WWII, he met Mary Elizabeth Bowling.  A short time later, they married and purchased 10 acres of land at 2608 Hikes Lane and started Wallitsch Nursery.  Herman Sr. had two dreams: one of plants and one of  children.  At the time, Wallitsch Nursery was surrounded by dirt roads and farm land.  The two grew bedding plants, annuals, mums, trees and shrubs on the nursery while raising their two sons, Herman Jr. and his brother Jim.

In 1974, Herman Wallitsch Jr. joined the business after graduating from the University of Kentucky as a Registered Landscape Architect.  Herman Jr. helped his parents in all facets of the nursery, learning to grow plants, selling, covering greenhouses, planting trees and shrubs, and customer satisfaction and service.

In 1996, his parents retired  and split Wallitsch Nursery into Wallitsch Nursery and Landscaping and Wallitsch Nursery and Garden Center.  Kevin Wallitsch joined his father, Herman Jr., after gaining experience at a Lexington, Kentucky landscape firm.  Today, Herman and Kevin have the experience, knowledge and excellence to bring the beauty of trees, shrubs and flowers into your landscape.

Since 1946, Wallitsch Nursery and Landscaping has been a family business that serves the Louisville area with dedication to improving the quality of our homes, businesses, neighborhoods and community.  We strive to pass along our love of plants and gardening to our customers and employees.
